ABOUT SCHREIER'S ON SHETEK
Located on the eastern shores of Lake Shetek, the largest lake in southwest Minnesota and the headwaters for the Des Moines River, Schreier's on Shetek Campground has been family owned and operated since 1994.
Given the rarity of large lakes in southwest Minnesota and for some distance over the borders into Iowa and South Dakota, Lake Shetek is a regional draw for both wildlife and water recreation. In fact, Shetek is derived from the Ojibwe world for pelican, a bird that to this very day frequents the waters of Lake Shetek and the surrounding area.
Lake Shetek is well known for its walleye fishing as well as tasty panfish such as perch, bullheads, and crappies. The size and configuration of the lake proves extremely well for quiet fishing, personal watercrafts, pontoon boats, paddle boats, and water skiing among other activities.
The wooded shorelines are home to many species of animals that can be viewed from your campsite. These include but are not limited to various birds, deer, turtles, squirrels, and chipmunks.
